Afraid of Going to the Dentist? Discover The Cure for Dental Fears

Dentists generally have a bad reputation. Expressions such as “It’s like pulling teeth” and “I’d rather get a root canal” are proof that doing something painful and hard is often compared to going to the dentist. In fact, going to the dentist is shown as something to be endured, not enjoyed.

However, it doesn’t have to be that way at all – and we at Atrium Family Dental, your New Lenox dentist, certainly don’t believe going to the dentist is a terrifying ordeal for any of our patients. But don’t just take our word for it! Check out some of our testimonials.

Our oral health care experts do their very best to make your every experience at the dentist a memorable one – in a good way! We know why people dislike going to the dentist and we’ve worked to make our office, our staff and our technology into a perfect combination of excellent patient-focused care and excellent oral health care.

Here at Atrium Family Dental, we understand that our New Lenox dental patients may suffer from dental anxiety and therefore can be extremely reluctant to contact us and book an appointment. Research has identified the Top 3 anxiety-causing reasons about dental visits – and here’s what we’re doing to make your every visit to our New Lenox dental clinic something to look forward to!

  • Pain

Fear of pain is completely natural and the oral health care experts at Atrium Family Dental understand that anxiety associated with needles and the idea of pain/discomfort in the mouth can convince patients they’re better off suffering from oral health care issues than coming to the dentist. However, we want to set the record straight. Most dental procedures are currently pain-free. If you require sedation and dislike needles, we’ll offer you alternative options or conceal the needle if necessary.

If you’re looking for a way to improve your health, your social relationships and your overall well-being, smiling is your best bet!

The simple act of smiling comes with a lot of benefits. According to a recent TED Talk given by Health Tap founder and CEO Ron Gutman, several studies support the theory that smiling improves your health and longevity. One study found that the width of a smile can be used to predict longevity – in other words, the wider your smile, the more likely you are to live longer. If you’re not happy with your smile and don’t smile often or at all, contact Atrium Family Dental in New Lenox, IL to book an appointment and improve your life, one smile at a time!

Your oral health is important and at Atrium Family Dental in New Lenox, IL, our team of oral health care experts want to share with you the most important oral health secrets that will give you a healthy smile you’ll be proud to show off everywhere.

  • If your gums are bleeding, there’s a very high chance you have periodontal (gum) disease. Come for an appointment as soon as possible!
  • An oral health care checkup at Atrium Family Dental every 6 months applies only to healthy gums. If you don’t have healthy gums, you’ll want to schedule a checkup at least every 3 months.
  • Pay attention to your back teeth when brushing/flossing. We’ve found that patients at Atrium Family Dental focus too much on their visible front teeth.
  • Proper oral health care includes 10 minutes of careful brushing and flossing.
  • Mouthwash that contains alcohol can dry out your mouth and actually worsen your bad breath.
